About the role

The Morbidity Audits Team is responsible for implementing and maintaining clinical audit databases that support fellows in improving and maintaining standards of surgical care.

Reporting to the Project Lead, Morbidity Audits, the Research Data Officer works closely with all Project Leads and other departmental and College staff in providing data analysis, research and systems support, and other routine activities of Morbidity Audits.

The keys areas of focus for this role are supporting the Morbidity Audits Team in the development, maintenance and implementation of Morbidity Projects, particularly data requests, extraction and the delivery of custom reports, data cleansing and database maintenance.

The role is for a fixed term for 2 years with possible further contract renewal.


Skills and experience

  • A degree with a major component in statistics, mathematics, data analysis or data science or an equivalent level of experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with high attention to detail
  • Well-developed time management skills ensuring tasks are completed in a timely fashion, meeting all deadlines
  • Ability to build strong and credible relationships quickly and confidently with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office
  • Experience working with datasets using for example SQL/ STATA / SPSS/ R/ Python/REDCap or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Managing multiple projects and tasks, and successfully prioritising and delivering results
